Black History Tribute: Ronald Williams

The Man Behind My Man
By Mrs. Sunshine

I remember as a child the month of February was always a special month for me. I know you are probably wondering why - well it represents Love. Yes, that's right Love!  This month isn't just for for lovers, but also to show love for the history of my heritage. There are so many interesting people I could write about it. Believe it or not we are definitely a blessed race. Even when the chips were down, we always found a way up with God. We were inventors, educators, authors, singers, musicians, actors/actresses, pioneers, and so much more.

Today I want to write about the man behind my man - my dad Ronald Williams. He is not in the traditional history books yet, but he will be one day. My dad didn't create me but he shaped me to be the person I am today. He has been in my life since I was an infant, in other words he took care of someone else's seed. He loved me from day one as if I was his own child. As I grew he has protected me, provided for me, and loved me unconditionally along with 2 kids of his own.

A true love that has guided me through my ups and downs of this life. He has never turned his back on me and even to this day he is still encouraging me to be the best that I can be. My dad is the blueprint to how I fell in love with my husband. The man behind my man. My dad's love for God and family were necessary for my husband to have in order for me to say"I do". My dad was a provider, he helped those in need, he had a sense of humor, and he was an encourager.

Here is in this very moment my dad is fighting for his family. He is laid in a hospital recovering from a partial hip replacement that didn't go as planned. He actually crashed on the operating table. Love is what drives him to continue to live. He is a man who laughs in the face of danger, he is a man who goes against all odds. My dad has been a renal patient for over 18 years, he has no kidneys, he has a broken back, he needs knee replacements in both legs, and dealing with diabetes. As we say BUT GOD!!!! Even in his condition not being able to walk or sit up for long periods of time, he continues to spread love, hope, and He preaches the gospel to all those he comes in contact with. I thought it was important to honor him as my black history honoree. He is the definition of what our culture stands for.

So everyday I get to share the Love from my husband  who reminds me of the love I've always known. The man behind my man is a lover, a fighter, an  inventor, a motivator, and a soldier.
I hope one day you get to read or meet this man that gave me the courage to dream dreams, to fly like the eagles, and set sail to the ocean blue. The man i married reminds me so much of the warm unconditional love my dad set before me. So here's to you DAD!
